Rum’s Eg is a contemporary gallery and Art space run by a Community Interest Company. It is a renowned centre of excellence for Art & Craft in the South of England – a creative hub set up in 2012 to support Artists & Craftsmen working within 70 miles of Romsey by showing and selling their work in the spacious ground floor gallery. In addition to the special exhibitions, there is always a comprehensive selection of paintings, sculpture, cards, jewellery, ceramics, woodwork, textile accessories and gifts to suit everyone’s pocket.
On the first floor is a welcoming Art Café, with paintings hung on the brick walls, offering home-made light lunches, delicious cakes and some of the best tea and coffee in Romsey. Perfect for meeting friends, catching up on emails or taking a break from shopping.
A wide range of workshops are held in the Leckford Art Studio on the second floor including life drawing, pottery, sculpture, jewellery making, printmaking, painting in all media and children’s workshops. The room is also available to hire. Funds are raised for Community Arts Projects, for example Artists working with local schools and other organisations – with an emphasis on ‘Arts for Wellbeing’.
Rum's Eg is now open 7 days a week: Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm, Sunday 11am to 5pm.
